What This Extension Does

This extension automates downloading your IMPLAN results. When you use the extension on IMPLAN results pages, it temporarily captures two IMPLAN-issued session tokens (rack.session and CSRF-TOKEN) from your browser so our backend service (resultsdownloader.com) can securely fetch your results file on your behalf.

⚠️ Important: This extension does not collect or transmit any data from websites other than implan.com and analytics.implan.com.

Activation Behavior: The extension only activates when you visit IMPLAN results pages with auto-monitoring enabled. It is completely idle otherwise and does not monitor your general browsing activity.

Not a Password Manager: This extension is not a password manager and does not store login credentials.

What We Never Collect

  • ❌ Credit card numbers or payment information
  • ❌ Personal financial information
  • ❌ Browsing history
  • ❌ Form data from any website
  • ❌ Any content you view on IMPLAN
  • ❌ Any IMPLAN results data, economic impact tables, datasets, or report content
  • ❌ Any data from websites other than implan.com
  • ❌ Page content, HTML, or website data

⚠️ Page Content: The extension does not read, inspect, analyze, or modify any page content, text, HTML, network requests, or data displayed on implan.com or any other website.

How Your Session Tokens Are Used

  • ✅ Tokens are issued by IMPLAN.com during your login session (not by us)
  • ✅ These tokens are not passwords and do not allow login outside your current browser session
  • ✅ Used only to download the files you explicitly request
  • ✅ Stored in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local - not synced to your Google account)
  • ✅ Tokens stored in chrome.storage.local are isolated to this extension and cannot be accessed by websites or other extensions
  • ✅ These IMPLAN session tokens are stored briefly to allow multiple authenticated downloads without repeated manual login
  • ✅ Never sold or shared with third parties
  • ✅ Never used for advertising, analytics, or tracking
  • ✅ We do not use or transfer user data for purposes other than providing and improving the extension's core functionality
  • ✅ Automatically expire after 5-10 minutes of inactivity on IMPLAN

Why Token Transmission is Necessary: Token transmission is necessary because IMPLAN restricts bulk download features to authenticated API requests.

✅ What Our Servers Never Access: Our servers never access or store your IMPLAN economic impact data. Only session tokens are transmitted to facilitate your own downloads.

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how the IMPLAN Download Automation Chrome extension ("the Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our extension to automate downloads from IMPLAN.

Important: This extension does not collect data from any websites except implan.com.

Information We Collect

1. Authentication Tokens

The Extension collects and temporarily stores two IMPLAN-issued authentication cookies — rack.session and CSRF-TOKEN — which function as short-lived session tokens. These are required for the extension to automate downloading your IMPLAN results.

These session tokens:

  • Are issued by IMPLAN.com when you log in
  • Are not your password and cannot be used to sign in outside your active browser session
  • Are collected only when you are on IMPLAN results pages
  • Are used solely to authenticate download requests that you initiate
  • Are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to our backend service at resultsdownloader.com
  • Are stored only temporarily and automatically expire after 5–10 minutes of inactivity
  • Are never sold, shared, or used for any purpose outside download automation
  • Are never collected from any websites other than implan.com

Technical Details:

  • Domain: analytics.implan.com (IMPLAN's authentication domain)
  • Storage: Stored in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local) and transmitted to our backend service for API requests
  • The extension does not read, inspect, analyze, or modify any page content

2. Usage Information

We collect minimal usage information to improve the Extension:

  • Timestamps of when credentials are synced
  • Extension installation and usage status
  • Error logs for troubleshooting purposes

3. Download Requests

When you initiate downloads through our service:

  • Download parameters (regions, impact types, industries)
  • Number and size of downloads
  • Download completion status

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information solely for:

  • Service Provision: To authenticate your requests to IMPLAN and enable automated downloads
  • Service Improvement: To diagnose and fix issues, and improve the Extension's functionality
  • Security: To detect and prevent abuse or unauthorized access

Data Storage and Security

We take your privacy and security seriously:

  • Local Storage Only: Session tokens are stored only in Chrome's local extension storage (not synced to your Google account) and are never shared with other sites or extensions
  • Encryption: All data transmission between the Extension and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
  • Temporary Storage: Session tokens are stored temporarily and automatically deleted when they expire (5-10 minutes)
  • No Password Storage: We never collect, store, or have access to your IMPLAN username or password. We only collect session tokens issued by IMPLAN.
  • Not Passwords: The tokens we collect are issued by IMPLAN's website during login and do not allow login outside your current browser session
  • Access Control: Your tokens are only accessible to you and are not shared with third parties

Our Backend Service

Important Clarification: This extension uses our own backend service at resultsdownloader.com - this is NOT a third-party service.

  • IMPLAN Integration: The Extension accesses IMPLAN's website and API using your authenticated session tokens. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by IMPLAN Group LLC.
  • Our Backend Service: Your authentication tokens (session cookies) are sent to our servers at resultsdownloader.com where we use them to make API requests to IMPLAN on your behalf for download automation.
  • No Third Parties: We do NOT share, sell, or transfer your data to any third-party services, advertising networks, analytics companies, or data brokers.

Data Sharing & Privacy Commitment

We do not sell, trade, or share your data with third parties. Your authentication tokens are used exclusively by our backend service for the core purpose of this extension: automating IMPLAN data downloads.

In accordance with Chrome Web Store policies, we certify that:

  • Your data is NOT being sold to third parties, outside of approved use cases
  • Your data is NOT being used or transferred for purposes unrelated to core functionality
  • Your data is NOT being used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
  • Infrastructure Providers: With trusted infrastructure providers (e.g., hosting services) who help us operate our backend service, under strict confidentiality agreements. These providers do not have independent access to your data.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Uninstall the Extension at any time
  • Request deletion of your stored credentials
  • Request information about what data we have collected
  • Opt out of any optional data collection

Data Retention

Authentication credentials are retained only while they are valid (typically 5-10 minutes) or until you log out of IMPLAN. Usage logs are retained for up to 90 days for troubleshooting purposes.

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
