Everything you need to know about using Results Downloader
Getting Started
1. Install the Chrome Extension
- Visit the Chrome Web Store (link available soon)
- Click "Add to Chrome"
- Confirm installation when prompted
- Pin the extension to your toolbar for easy access
2. Create Your Account
- Visit resultsdownloader.com
- Click "Sign Up" and enter your email
- Check your email for the verification link
- Complete your profile setup
3. Connect to IMPLAN
- Log into your IMPLAN account at analytics.implan.com
- Navigate to any results page
- The extension will automatically capture your session credentials
- Visit the Results Downloader web app to verify connection status
How It Works
Results Downloader uses a two-part system to automate your IMPLAN data exports:
🔌 Chrome Extension
Captures your IMPLAN session credentials when you visit results pages. This allows our system to make authenticated requests on your behalf.
🌐 Web Application
Provides the interface to configure and execute results downloads. Uses the credentials captured by the extension to fetch your data automatically.
📊 Data Pipeline
Processes IMPLAN results and exports them to Excel format with proper pivot-ready organization, including all selected groups, events, and tags.
Important:
The extension only captures session tokens (not your password) and only activates on IMPLAN domains. Your credentials are stored securely and never shared with third parties.
Using the Downloader
Understanding Status Indicators
Credentials Active
Extension is connected and credentials are valid. Ready to download.
Credentials Expired
Session has expired. Refresh your IMPLAN page to renew credentials.
Extension Not Connected
Extension hasn't synced yet. Visit an IMPLAN results page to activate.
Configuring a Download
- Ensure credentials are active (green status)
- Enter IMPLAN Result IDs (comma-separated for multiple results)
- Select dimensions and aggregations you need
- Click "Start Download"
- When download is complete either download the excel file directly OR
- download the attachment sent via email
Troubleshooting
Extension Issues
Extension shows "Not Connected"
- Verify the extension is installed and enabled
- Visit an IMPLAN results page (app.implan.com/results/...)
- Check extension icon - should show green when active
- Try refreshing the IMPLAN page
Credentials expire quickly
- IMPLAN sessions expire after 30-60 minutes of inactivity
- Keep an IMPLAN tab open while downloading
- Refresh IMPLAN page when credentials expire
- Extension will auto-capture new credentials

Can't log in
- Check email for verification link (check spam)
- Use password reset if you forgot your password
- Contact support if issues persist

Frequently Asked Questions
Installation & Setup
Do I need an IMPLAN subscription?
Not necessarily. Existing results sets that you created when you did have a current subscription can still be downloaded with the results link. However, you do need an IMPLAN subscription to create the analysis results in the first place.
Which browsers are supported?
Currently Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, etc.).
Can I use this on multiple computers?
Yes! Install the extension on each computer and log into the same Results Downloader account.
Privacy & Security
Does the extension access my IMPLAN password?
No. The extension only captures session tokens issued by IMPLAN when you log in. It never sees or stores your password.
What data do you collect?
We collect only session tokens from IMPLAN and basic usage analytics. We never access your IMPLAN data, economic impact results, or any content from other websites. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Is my data shared with third parties?
Never. Your credentials and data are never sold or shared with any third parties.
How are credentials stored?
Credentials are stored in Chrome's secure local storage (chrome.storage.local), isolated to the extension only. Your credentials (username & password) are never visible to us and never stored by us.
Usage
How many results can I download at once?
You can download one result set at a time.
What output formats are supported?
Currently Excel (.xlsx) format with pivot ready sheets for different dimensions and aggregations.
Why do credentials expire so quickly?
IMPLAN's session cookies expire after 30-60 minutes of inactivity for security. This is controlled by IMPLAN.com, not Results Downloader.
Technical
How does the extension work?
The extension captures IMPLAN session tokens when you visit results pages, syncs them to our web app, which uses them to make authenticated API requests on your behalf.
Does the extension slow down my browser?
No. The extension only activates on IMPLAN domains and is completely idle otherwise.
Billing
Is there a free trial?
There is a free tier that allows downloads of your default results set data. The paid tiers include options to select groups, events, and tags for pivot ready tables as well as dollar year, regional data, and aggregation filters.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel anytime from your Account Settings. No long-term commitments.
Do you offer team/enterprise plans?

Common Workflows
📥 Single Result Download
- Log into IMPLAN and navigate to your results page
- Copy the Result ID from the URL (e.g., 123456)
- Visit Results Downloader web app
- Verify green "Credentials Active" status
- Paste Result ID into the download form
- Select desired dimensions and aggregations
- Click "Start Download"
- Wait for processing to complete
- Click "Download Excel" to save your file OR download the file from the email we send you.
🔄 Daily Workflow for Active Projects
- Start your day by logging into IMPLAN
- Keep an IMPLAN tab open in background
- Use Results Downloader as needed throughout the day
- If credentials expire, refresh IMPLAN tab
- Extension auto-captures new credentials
- Continue working seamlessly
